As COVID restrictions continue, it looks like the Christmas Office Party will be moving online this year.
As much as we would love to be able to meet up with friends and colleagues in the flesh, the new Christmas regulations mean we are limited to a “festive bubble” of up to three households between the 23rd and 27th of December – with normal Tier rules staying in place for the rest of the holidays.
This means that festive Christmas parties and other work celebrations will be off the table this year, but that is OK because Meeting Rooms is here to help. People may be a little wary of the idea because they are probably tired of spending nearly a whole year hanging out via the screen, but there are things you can do to make sure your team enjoys your festive meet-up.
Here is a list of simple ideas that can turn your Christmas meeting room into something fun and festive:
Festive Bake Off
The end of the Great British Bake Off has left a hole in our hearts, so why not recreate the magic of the tent via Meeting Rooms?
Organise an easy virtual bake-off by sending all your team instructions on how to make a simple Christmas recipe, such as a chocolate tray bake or Christmas crispy cakes. Encourage them to buy their own ingredients, then host an online cook-a-long on the screen so you can all laugh along at the chaos and get everyone through their baking fails!
Don’t forget to nominate someone as a judge – because there has to be a star baker after all!
Cocktail Making
If baking is not your team’s thing, then why not do an online cocktail making class instead?
Choose an easy but tasty cocktail recipe with ingredients that are easy to get hold of, such as expresso martinis or mojitos – and get your team to mix along with your step-by-step on-screen.
The best bit is drinking it at the end, of course, but you could also make it a competition to see who produces the best looking – and the worst!
Christmas quiz
You only get one chance a year to organise a festive quiz, so you should really go all out!
Make sure everyone knows that Christmas Jumper wearing is compulsory, and all of the quiz rounds should be seasonal – festive trivia, lines from Christmas songs, and images from Christmas movies.
